You have no idea how many times I have sat on the Lifeguard Shack and wrestled it out with God and prayer. I realized quickly that if I wanted a miracle in my life that I had to be steadfast in my prayer life and faith.

I don’t know how many of you know the story about Jacob. Jacob wrestled with God In Prayer until he blessed him and his name was changed then to Israel because God did bless his perseverance. The challenge a lot of us have in times when we’re in really difficult situations, is that our energy is zapped. We feel drained, down and we don’t feel like praying. We don’t feel like getting out of the house and making the effort that it takes to deny ourselves and wrestle through prayer with God. Emotions can be such a powerful thing. Emotions can feels so real and yet have no true validity. My sister and I use the term emotionally hijacked. Have you ever been having an awesome day and then all of a sudden someone says something to you that rubs you the wrong way and you’re emotionally hijacked? I love that term because a lot of times we don’t even realize this is happening, we just go from having a great day to a bad day. So when we’re in long-suffering or our life is in some way a mess that needs a miracle, Satan’s biggest play is to get us away from where the true power lies, which is in faithful prayer. And he does this through our emotions and lack of priority.

It’s easier at times to book out the mundane routine things that happen every day in our life. To take the kids to sports to go meet the girls for lunch to go to the library to go grocery shopping. But drastic situations call for drastic measures. If something in your life needs to change and you are desperate for God, your priorities are going to have to change in the same manner. You’re priority to go and take hours to spend with the Lord is going to have to be on the top of your priority list. The biggest ploy that Satan wants, is to get us away from having breakthroughs in our life. He would much rather you feel oppressed suppressed and depressed! Because when your intimacy grows with God and your faith increases, you become a woman of God who is a powerful source of faith to those around you, you become Unstoppable! Not to mention…. when a woman feels they’re truly intimately known by their creator and sees their worth through that lense, they securely rise to the occasion!

But what Jacob did was different than just going out and having a little 15-minute prayer time with the Lord, he made a decision that he was going to stay and wrestle with God until his situation changed. I remember many times going out to the beach, sitting there and I had made a decision that I would not leave the beach until my heart changed. During the times of my suffering I could feel hard hearted, unforgiving and hopeless. But I remember many times sitting there and crying it out, reading my Bible and praying through it until literally, I felt God soften my heart. I was then able to look at things through God’s perspective and spiritual eyes. And I don’t know about you, but when you have God’s perspective on a difficult situation they somehow become bearable.

This is truly how we mature ourselves as disciples of Jesus. We deny our emotions and do what we know is right. Have you ever heard the term to do what is right and your heart will follow? There isn’t one time I can remember ever going out to pray and feeling like at the end of it, it was a waste of time. I feel like God really blessed those times and grew me so close to him and I felt my intimacy with God continue to grow. I ran to many Father in Heaven first.

James 1:3-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when You Face Trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything. This is truly what our walk is all about, being mature and complete not lacking anything. If we are going to be the women of God, that he intends us to be, we must have the willingness of heart to wrestle with God!
